This is the perfect option for people of all kinds of budgets. You don’t have to spend thousands on the perfect trip away.
Here are some ideas on how to be a tourist in your home town:
How to be a Tourist in Your Own City?
1. Sleep out for one or two nights.
There is nothing like staying in a hotel or a guesthouse for a few nights, to make you feel like a tourist even in your city. If a hotel or a guesthouse is too expensive for you, set up a tent in your backyard or even build a fort inside. Another good idea is to swap houses with a friend for a night or two. Both of you don’t only get a night or two away from your home but it would be at no cost.
2. Take a photo in front of a touristy spot.
A well-known statue in your city or a view from the local park. The beautiful graffiti downtown, the welcome sign to your town, and a lookout point. All towns have some amazing spots to visit. Even if you’ve been to all of the most popular tourist spots in your city, embrace the cheesiness and visit them again. This will allow you to take the perfect selfies in front of those iconic spots.
3. Grab a meal at a restaurant in your city that you have never been to.
We all have our favourite restaurants and we don’t normally try new restaurants. Take this time to visit a restaurant that you haven’t been to before. Try the dish that the restaurant is most famous for and while you are there take some time to look around and explore the area.
4. Do something that you can only do in your city.
Is your city known for rock climbing? Or maybe fly fishing? Maybe it has a very historic past? or even just a beautiful fountain or a mall. Take advantage of what your town has to offer. Have fun and explore the places that make your city special!
