Khao Yai is a small town located in Nakhon Ratchasima province in the Northeast of Thailand. This town lays about 3 hours outside of Bangkok. It’s not visited by tourist that travels to Thailand but it’s a favourite among the locals in Thailand.
Khao Yai is most famous for the Khao Yai National Park that stretches over 3 provinces in Thailand. It’s the perfect place to admire some beautiful waterfalls, take a hiking trip, have a picnic, camping and wildlife watching. One interesting thing that not many people know is this but the waterfall scene in the movie ‘The Beach’ are actually filmed in Khao Yai National Park.
Even though the national park is the biggest attraction in Khao Yai it’s not the main reason why the locals love it. Khao Yai is filled with hotels, parks, restaurants, and centres that are built with Italian or french architecture in mind. The whole town will transport you out of Thailand and straight into a small village in Italy.
